It’s true and I think it’s not a bad thing. Just do the same thing the other way around. Using a character to develop one you CARE about is in my opinion a good plot.

some characters are meant to be plot devices and nothing more. and that's okay. a perfect example are dead parents. Batman, Superman and spider man all have that trope

I can't name a single anime where the husband dies and it makes the female Mc stronger or is super important to their development for years. 🙄 and that's probably cuse the girl ends up better off.

What frustrated me so much in demon slayer: you mean to tell me that there is a character who has so much self control she did not kill humans, she is incredibly strong and fast, but she receives 0 training, unlike her brother who can smell things?! Make it make sense. And it hurts them in the battle too when Nezuko is fighting the demon the demon literally says: she is very strong BUT LUCKILY NOT TRAINED!!! This is so stupid from the point of trainers, if a boy had demonic powers he would be getting elite warrior training….
