@sally0310: #TurgorPressure is the internal force pushing a cell’s plasma membrane against its rigid cell wall. Driven by the osmotic flow of water into the cell, it provides the essential rigidity that keeps plant stems upright and leaves firm. Without it, plants wilt and droop. How It Works #Osmosis: When a plant cell is in a water-rich (hypotonic) environment, water moves through the cell membrane into the central vacuole via osmosis. #CellWallResistance: As the vacuole fills, it swells and presses the cytoplasm outward. Because the cell wall is strong and somewhat rigid, it prevents the cell from bursting and pushes back, creating internal hydrostatic pressure (turgor). #Turgidity: A cell fully swollen with water under high pressure is called turgid.
