I think that action came from the fact that older heavy chairs didn't slide very well so the gentleman helped the lady up.and be seated again when she returns. Not any different than helping a lady put on her coat. Us old guys call it MANNERS! They should try it sometime. 🥺

However!!! When I meet a young man or woman who know manners and don't hide them...I'm happily impressed. I'll take the good any day of the week. This includes being ma'am ed....which I'm not a fan of but I know it usually comes from.a good place.

Not only do I stand up but I follow them to the ladies room and ask them if they need help like maybe pouring some water on a few tissues to hand them so they can clean their private parts properly. They love that extra attention to detail.

I had a younger man who would pull out the chair for me every other time because he thoughtvit was some kind of power play. It was the oddest behaviour. He really had a dillemma.
