Nikki and the curse were fighting for control. Nikki wants him dead for torturing her and the curse is trying to keep him safe. you see a split personality/control moment. very interesting if you rematch the move and instead of seeing just the big switches were Nikki takes control watch and pay attention to the micro control moments. truly chilling how present Nikki actually is.

I will never understand why she was purposely trying to scare him in this scene. It makes no sense. Wish Nikki wants Bear to love her and she wants to bring him no harm, so why would she actively try to scare him? Every other disturbing thing she did can be explained by saying they are twisted version of love, she made the cat shrine because he loves the cat, she fed him the cat because he loves the cat and being a food critic, she killed Sarah because she loves Bear and wants him to love her not Sarah, everything can be explained through a sick sense of love except actively trying to scare Bear.
