After 6 years coaching, patience is the thing everyone asks me about and the thing I never address directly. Here are 7 things I do to teach it without ever calling it patience. 1. I diagnose where the trade is actually breaking down. The student thinks the problem is patience. It almost never is. I find the component that's broken and work backwards from there. 2. I break trading into separate skills and train one at a time. An athlete drills footwork before strength before technique. You get good at the whole by mastering the parts. 3. I sequence the work in a specific order. There's a right order to learn these in. Skipping a step or doing them in parallel is why most traders never get consistent. I make sure each step is locked before we move. 4. I set a graduated risk model. The student trades at a defined risk and has to prove they can execute. When they do, they graduate. When they don't, they don't. 5. I narrow what they're allowed to trade. Most patience problems are scope problems. We trim the field before we ask anyone to be selective in it. 6. I make them review what they didn't trade. The pass list tells me more about a student than the take list. It's where the real work shows up. 7. I build their life around the chart, not the other way around. The trader you are everywhere else is the trader you are at the chart. I work on the rest of the life as part of the training. By the end, the student didn't work on patience. They built the components that make patience automatic. Same goes for discipline. Same goes for consistency. Most coaches teach the goals directly. That's the mistake. You can't will a trait into existence. You build the system that makes it inevitable. Comment FIX and I'll hop on a free 1-1 conversation. We'll figure out what's actually stopping your trading and build a plan to fix it. #tradepsychology #tradingcoach #mentaltrading #tradermindset #tradingpsychology
