@jeremyvineon5: "This is the consequence of successive governments having uncontrolled, unfettered immigration and spending out of control." Peter C. Barnes says access to benefits should take longer for immigrants, but poorly implemented policy is to blame. #Immigration #Benefits #StormandAlexis @thestormhuntley

we don't survive on handouts I recently bought a £300k, I don't see myself ever queuing for benefits, that notion is far fetched. Give us ilr without those benefits.

You can’t apply for a British passport in ILR - you can apply for citizenship and THEN you can apply for a passport & you start to get the benefits of being British.

These people are hysterical. And they're getting most of it wrong. There is no '2 tier' system. If you've been granted 'indefinite leave to remain' which is HIGHLY CONDITIONAL, you can access the NHS and other benefits available to British citizens. You cannot get a British passport. After 5 years (with a few exceptions) you can apply for British citizenship. If granted, then you can apply for a passport. Brexit critically damaged the value of a British passport.

Hold on, the myth that immigrants don’t contribute is absolutely BS💩. 2 adults & 2 children pay approx £16k to £18k in visa fees+IHS & other costs. They don’t GET BENEFITS but pay taxes for five years or more before anything. Then again pay fees approx £13k for ILR🤦🏻‍♂️

NOT ALL IMMIGRANTS CLAIM BENEFITS, do you think someone can spend thousands of pounds on VISA FEES, FLIGHTS, ENGLISH TEST, TB TESTS, POLICE CLEARANCE etc just so they can be on UNIVERSAL CREDIT AND PIP

Why have the right to remain but why do they not get their citizenship? It’s either want to live here for the rest of their lives or not

but if your coming here with a view to work and that is your purpose of coming here then you wouldn't require benefits? People should want to come to Britain to prosper in a strong modern economy not for an exploitable benefits system

No body wants the benefits, you have all got it wrong here. What people wants here is to be not controlled by employer and live freely here , buy a house here and start businesses and contribute rather than take. I agree with the idea of not get benefits straight away. And passports should be given after 5 years of getting the ILR and that’s where you can get the access to public funds. Right now people just needed to get this right.

If you prevent migrants from working and don't give them benefits, they will starve to death. Do you really want to see that happen?
