Nothing will happen to actually deal with these events out in the collective American consciousness. It will all pass without self-examination or serious reflection. One reason is that, despite Americans' love of indignation and outbound shaming, deep down they are afraid of anything that will expose their claim to exceptionalist virtue as not just the most glamorous lie of the many they tell themselves, but the one foundational to American existence as we have come to know it. Presently, such threats to the settled, virtue-signaling, self-congratulatory, moralistic and privileged American mindset are coming thicker and faster than ever before. Hence the high national angst among Americans - at a time when they are threatened by no man and no nation. To discover their debauchery will end the AmericanS' dream for themselves. It's a realistic enough dream, but real dreams aren't real.
