it’s not your fault. i’m local, and idk a single person who views mason’s death as preventable. it was the definition of a freak accident. no one knew that could even happen. your family has done an amazing job at spreading awareness about this, and i hope it brings you peace over time. he seemed like a wonderful kid

one quote i remember from the service was "mason didnt even have a chance to drown" and that genuinely made me sob its such an unfortunate situation for everyone involved the only thing that could've saved him didnt exist until he had to be the reason for it

Not on you. Freak accident. But it is now your responsibility to make peace with it, which isn’t fair and I’m so sorry. My dad had a similar story, he had a snowball fight w his brother when they were 6 and 4. His brother suffered a brain bleed and never woke up. My grandma always blamed my dad. He was 6. He didn’t know. And neither did you. A storm drain? I would never even have considered it. Give yourself some grace, you know your brother wouldn’t want you to suffer anymore than this has already caused.

My little brother got sucked into a small driveway culvert when he was three after a heavy rainstorm, he was stuck for several minutes with water rushing through thankfully be made it out but I have been terrified of them ever since…I am so sorry for your loss 🤍

On the manual written driving test one of my questions was “ how long does it take for roads to become dangerous becuase of rain?” And the answer was the first few seconds. So sorry for your loss babe.💗

Omg this happened where I live (Smyrna, TN). The school superintendent lost one of his sons. Just devastating, I can’t believe it’s happened more than once. 😭
