elena is incredibly smart and observant from day one she was able to figure stefan out and his dynamic with damon AND katherine she can also be strategic to get exactly what she wants (damon giving her katherine’s book, her in the tomb with katherine etc) she is also incredibly smart when it comes to combat even as a human (when rose was bit for example) and she deals greatly under pressure it’s actually impressive how she only broke in season 4 and STILL she only turned it off because of the sirebond the fandom DEFINITELY does not give her enough credit i’ll always defend my girl idc

Elena is very smart, but people have to remember there's mutliple types of intelligence not just book smarts. Elena has interpersonal, intrapersonal, and bodily-kinesthetic intelligence.
