Those referencing that Sulley should have been the captain should read this. Sulley’s last Afcon was in 2012. In that tournament, John Mensah was still the captain. In 2013, John Mensah no longer had the call up, including Sulley. Gyan was subsequently named the substantive captain because he had then become the experienced leader amongst the lot. So dont make it look like Gyan was given the title at the expense of Sulley. Even if they were all present, Essien would have been the next in line, before Sulley and Gyan. But sadly, Mensah, Essien and Sulley all ended their Afcon careers in 2012. They came back in 2013 to play WC qualifiers after the Afcon, where Gyan was already leading the team. Management couldn’t change their decision because Gyan was also performing as a captain. Their last tournament together was in 2014. Ends✍️
