The quiet ache of admiring someone from afar, where longing remains untouched by certainty. This song took me about two weeks to finish because I kept coming back to it. It just wasn't quite right. The phrasing in the second verse changed over and over, and I was determined to get a little vocal run at the end of the "ahhhhhh." Every time I got close, something else would be off. Eventually, one version had the vocal run exactly the way I wanted it, but there were other parts that weren't as good. Sometimes that's how it goes, you have to piece together the best sections from different versions and run them back through again. I ended up doing that with the second verse too, even though it still changed the phrasing slightly. People often think making songs is easy, and sometimes it is. But when you're chasing something very specific, it can take a long time. Finding the right style, the right phrasing, the right emotion. I usually go through many iterations before a song finally feels finished. I'm very particular, and I've learned not to rush that process.
