I don’t think that’s fair. Argentinians don’t romanticize the Malvinas War—we remember it with deep sadness because so many people lost their lives. We especially remember the sinking of the ARA General Belgrano, an attack outside the declared exclusion zone that many Argentinians consider unnecessary and unlawful, where 323 sailors died—more Argentines in that single attack than the total number of British personnel killed during the entire war. It wasn’t a simple war: decisions were made that many of us remember as disproportionately cruel, and that’s why we don’t “romanticize” it—we mourn it.

De acuerdo con el concepto de decir no a las guerras. De todos modos, hay varias informaciones incorrectas. Argentina no envió jóvenes de 16 años; eso es completamente falso. Los más jóvenes eran de la clase 1963, tenían 19 años y acababan de incorporarse al servicio militar obligatorio, con muy poca o ninguna preparación. Los demás eran de la clase 1962 o eran suboficiales y oficiales. Yo mismo, sin haber hecho el servicio militar y con apenas 18 años, me presenté como voluntario para ayudar en lo que fuera, y me respondieron que no era necesario. Dicho esto, las Malvinas fueron, son y serán argentinas. ¡Viva la patria y honor a los caídos de ambos lados! Saludos.

Who’s romanticizing mate? It’s a big wound in our country. You can agree or not with the claim, but believe me that nobody takes it lightly. And most of the “multi millionaire players” as you call them, as if it was a bad thing btw, come from very poor families

The Malvinas war was such an event for Argentina that everyone chants about it, its not just the players is the whole country, trying to be neutral, like how the argentinian coach tried to be, saying "its just football, lets not make it anything else" made him a meme for everyone on argentina. In the end for argentina, playing against england is not just a game, its a matter of "getting you guys back" for everything you did...
