Hey, CNN! Ontario is a province covering about as many square kilometres as Texas. So perhaps it is neglectful to spread a message of “near Ontario” when the fires are in specific areas of Ontario. Would you say fires “near Texas”?

For the record. There’s MULTIPLE wildfires across the province of Ontario. Because we haven’t gotten nearly enough rain to keep all these trees and brush wet thanks to the ridiculously persistent heat wave we’ve had for like 3 weeks. Let me speak American for a moment. A province which northern half averages 14-20 ft of snow per winter season and -22° F temps isn’t used handling all 17 feet of snow melting in 4 days at the beginning of April and running 104° F for almost 3 solid weeks without significant rain in almost 4. Fires happen, it’s hot and it’s dry. Everyone is taking it seriously. With nearly 200 wildfires burning in Ontario right now 148 in the NW (very rural) 37 in the NE (rural). 69 fires still being deemed “out of control” with multiple reservation communities being evacuated.. let’s all be kind and remember there are families being effected.

I am very thankful the crew and residents got out alive. Wildfires can turn on a dime and trap people within seconds. I remember a wildfire in Oregon that trapped a group of firefighters and unfortunately they perished.
