it's actually because everyone smoked cigarettes 🚬 everywhere -- home, office, etc. and if the computers and tech were beige, it hid the nicotine stains. the more you know 🌈

That type of off white plastic breaks down with time and sunlight. They looked like cigarette stains by the late 90s because they got super beige or brown with age. It was a very inferior form of injection plastic.

It wasn't that much beige. The TV was brown with wood panels, the telephone was green, the stereo was black and so was the radio and casette player. That was what we had in our home.
