@goodearthtours: Osilalei does two jobs most trees can't.... chewing gum and a fence that grows itself. ✨ Maasai communities have chewed the sap from this Camiphora tree for generations, the same sap that makes its branches useful as living fencing. Cut a branch, leave it for five or six days, then plant the thorny tip in the ground around the boma. The sap left in that tip is enough to take root on its own, no seed needed, and it never dries out the way other wood would. You'll spot the tree along the rocky outcrops of the Serengeti and in the drier savanna stretches nearby, often growing into shapes that look almost deliberate. Save this one before your own walking safari. It's worth asking your guide what other trees are doing something similar. 😉
