The problem is that men say “natural beauty” when what they really mean is “high maintenance beauty that looks effortless”. Their idea of natural beauty usually isn’t the average Jane Doe down the street. They’re not picturing the average woman at Walmart. It’s often women with flawless skin, symmetrical features, enhanced lashes, professionally styled hair, subtle cosmetic work, expensive skincare, fitness focused body composition, and good genetics. They call it natural because the work is subtle enough that people don’t notice it, not because nothing was done. When they picture “natural beauty,” they’re often picturing women who have the time, money, and resources to maintain an appearance that looks effortless. For example, young Megan Fox, Adriana Lima, Monica Bellucci, Jessica Alba, or Ana de Armas. Those women are beautiful, but they’re also far from average. That’s not “girl next door” beauty. They want extraordinary beauty that they can pretend is natural.
