Crying over a game rather than a movie is more emotional for some because you walked through a series of events over the course of many days or months, leaving a virtually semi permanent shared memory of experience with you and the character and when something tragic happens, you almost experience it as if you’re there. So the people saying “crying over a game is wild” don’t understand the true nature of completing a campaign or story with a tragic ending whether good or bad
