I have always said this fandom is weird. They say their favourite parts of GOT is dialogue and politics yet the highest rated episodes have always been the spectacle episodes.

Exactly. I'm so disappointed. Like this use to be the shit we LIVED for. Ourmand, Daeron, Rhaena/Daemon, The scheming, the politics, the small needle drop at the end etc... even the comedy?! lol - It was such a good episode!

the difference is game of thrones had dialogue dialogue with characters saying worthwhile words and it was written sooooo immaculate. not hating on house of dragon but come on, how many pointless ass Alicent scenes are we gonna get? could you honestly say any talking scenes in this season is to the standard of the monologue of Bobby B talking wit Cersei in season 1? No. not even close

hotd is kinda mid, not cause of no action cause it's just kinda mid. S1 didn't have much action but it was a great season, after that it all started being kinda boring.

Yes but they still made major changes from the books which people were not happy with. Akotsk has shown how much sticking to the source material improves it. No one likes condols fanfic changes from the books.

The first seasons were incredible because it was very accurate to the books, HOTD has been criticized so much because the source material isn’t no where near as fleshed out as the the other books, so there was a lot more holes to fill in for the writers, also people act like such book snobs sometimes it’s such a overreaction at times. The book snobs love to bring up and say oh look how bad the last seasons were but they always ignore the tv show only scenes/plot lines that were great for example the battle of the bastards.

Everyone who just wants to watch battles wants the Marvelification of this universe. The scheming and dialogue is WHY we get the battles leading to consequences, which leads to more scheming and battles.

The thing is GOT was fleshed out and well written. Every season was centred around one event (e.g the Red wedding) and the episodes in that season were not just filler episodes but build-ups to that ONE event. It even allowed for side quests storylines that became integral in later seasons (e.g Arya’s arch to becoming no-one). HOTD although entertaining, feels rushed because too many important events are being crammed into one season and that’s why these “filler” episodes just don’t hit as much😬
