I fell off my horse and I don't remember phoning my boss to tell him. so I sent him a message. this is how managers should respond. he is no longer my manager but he is still awesome nonetheless.

My husband was in the emergency room having a possible heart attack (it wasn’t, but we didn’t know that yet). His boss told him to stop answering his damn phone and let them know when he was home. Boss texted the next day just to see how husband was feeling and asked if he could send dinner to our house so the family would have one less thing to think about.
