unfortunately museums and scientific institutions do not have the space or the money to manage the vast numbers of Bones and fossils that are found and removed. there have been stories about bones getting sent to museums in New York from private dig sites and then literally getting dumped in the river because they don't have the space to store or analyze or the funds to deal with them. usually museums are given first dibs on big fossils like this but they have to raise the money to be able to buy them and if nobody is donating and governments aren't funding there's nothing they can do plus if we housed every fossil ever found in a museum they'd be the size of cities

It is disappointing that it's gone into private ownership. What I'd hope for is that whoever had bought him can look after him properly so he doesn't deteriorate.
