Reacting to the incident, Bobi Wine said the scenes at Kisekka Market reflected the security concerns cited by Washington, arguing that they portray Uganda as unsafe for both citizens and visitors. He questioned how members of the public could distinguish between criminals and security operatives when armed men in plain clothes conduct operations in public. Bobi Wine also called for greater professionalism among Uganda's security agencies, saying the country deserves security forces that protect citizens while respecting the rule of law. The United States currently advises its citizens not to travel to Uganda, citing concerns including crime, terrorism, civil unrest and health risks. Meanwhile, the Government of Uganda maintains that the country remains peaceful, secure and open to visitors, and has continued to urge the US to reconsider the travel advisory.
