It didn’t work for me at first, until I simply made the hole smaller. The weaker your eye is, the smaller the hole has to be.

The hole has to be very very small for this to work. Almost completely closed. And it is better but not crystal clear

I found this trick by accident (horrible vision growing up 🙄) I also remember seeing these “corrective glasses” growing up that work on the same principle.

I’m a -5 with astigmatism and I can press gentle on my eyes top and bottom and bring them in and out of focus. Without my glasses I can find a sweet spot where I can read things I normally couldn’t read. This it starting to make that make sense! Maybe the light blocking combined with slightly reshaping the cornea to get the focus right?
