Everyone in the comments is proving your point about lacking critical thinking. Are there exceptions? Absolutely. Some public school systems genuinely fail kids. But generally, an unregulated homeschool culture gives the worst parents the most freedom to fail their children.

As a teacher, they should have to take the same teacher tests as we teachers do, cbest, CSET, rica…. they should be held to the same standards as teachers do.

Homeschooling, as a retired teacher, is one of the biggest disasters in US history. I don’t know how many kids I encountered who had been homeschooled, and who were unable to think, to write, to socialize, to read. The vilification of public education and professional teachers is a decades long deliberate agenda from the right to create a stupid compliant electorate.

Ask any parent how Covid changed their children and they will tell you that the lack of socialization during that year made a huge difference. A negative difference.

Ex-homeschool kid here that was one of the exception kids. We were pulled out for bullying but what she's saying is 100% true. We would meet up with other homeschoolers and those kids were being set up for failure. My mom hired tutors and gave us set curriculum. The other kids we were meeting could barely read.

There are a lot of reasons people homeschool. There are massive teacher shortages nationwide and a lot of time wasted within the schools that limit actual classroom instruction.

I never wanted to homeschool. I will say, now, in this atmosphere, if my state decided the bible was going to be taught in school, I would not hesitate to homeschool. Not a trad wife, def believe in science & vaccines, etc.

Public school teacher here, and I'm speaking from actual experience, not just ASSumptions. Some of the hardest-working, most self-disciplined, and genuinely intelligent students I've had were homeschooled. In my experience, many of them end up leaving public school pretty quickly because they're already years ahead academically. Every child is different, but let's not make blanket statements about something we don't have firsthand experience with. 👌🏽
