I'm nuerodivergent and the voicemail didn't surprise me because I've received many similar texts and voicemails in the past. There is something about being nuerodivergent that is bait to these types. Usually they want to hang out until they have drained the manic pixie dream girl right out of you. A decade ago I too might have been defending the voicemail as just being transparent. Now I know better and am no longer willing to build castles out of the sand a narcissistic man kicks in my direction.

I agree that it’s the same type of woman justifying this but it’s not for the reasons ur saying. It’s cause they wanna keep the open and progressive posture online and don’t wanna be labelled as puritanical. For some progressive women it can become a contest of who has the most woke progressive take. I legit don't understand what people wanted him to do instead. Did they want him to go over to her house and say these things? I feel like that is 100 times more "coercive". Or did they expect him to hide his feelings and then potentially lead her on? see, I would personally never have sex that soon into dating. If a guy did what the voicemail gut did, I would be like "thank god, he told me now so I can get out of this situation and also easily text him without feeling uncomfortable"

People like this tend to defend behaviour from men who act like this because the men are doing it in a way that’s out of the norm so they find it “refreshing” instead. They also tend to give men who act odd the benefit of the doubt because they know what it’s like to be misunderstood so they wrongfully empathise with them.
