@seckinmd: Endometriosis does not always fit the assumptions people make about it. In this surgery, I'm caring for a transgender man who had previously undergone a hysterectomy but continued to experience symptoms. During surgery, we found that extensive endometriosis remained. In total, I excised 23 endometriosis lesions and also removed the appendix after identifying disease involvement. A hysterectomy alone is not a cure for endometriosis. When endometriosis lesions are left behind, the disease, and the pain it causes can persist. Endometriosis can affect transgender men, and compassionate, individualized care is essential.
