If you have a library card, don’t forget to ask your library what other libraries you can add on your Libby app with the 1 library card you have. For example, the Boise public library has about 9 libraries around the state you can add with the 1 Boise card

If you have a California ID, you can get a library card from any library in the state. Most of them require you to go in person to pickup your card. If you're visiting a city, stop by the library.

In the Portland area, we can get free reciprocal library cards for the neighboring library systems; I have four of them so far and I just need to drag myself over to a physical branch in the 5th system to collect them all!

If you're in Ohio, you can get cards from any state-funded library (so any public library, pretty much) and you can get them online! I have 9 cards and almost never have to wait for books 😊

I’ve looked at a handful of these libraries listed and they have yearly subscriptions essentially of $50-80 a year. I don’t think 20 plus years of late fees have ever reached that amount. I know local taxes subsidize part of the library costs. But the language around what appears on offer is renting access à la all other media. Please don’t state that you’re buying a card, you are renting it for 12 months at an expensive clip.
