As a third year on rotations, professionalism is SO important. You’d get absolutely destroyed if you did this stuff on the wards. Super important to learn & practice as a premed!

On the last day of shadowing, I just wrote a very simple thank you card, and becuase I always saw the doc drinking Diet Dr Pepper, I left him a diet Dr Pepper on his desk. Genuine and simple. I’m graduating medical school in less than a year now. 😁

Shadowing is such a hassle. I remember as a premed I basically got nothing out of it, it’s insane we count it as informative exposure to the field and that med schools require it. Being on the other side now in residency I would just say: be kind to yourselves premeds. Check the boxes, but it’s never that deep.

If I ever get the opportunity to shadow a doctor I am so very grateful. I shadowed a doctor and was having some trouble balancing my medications and I felt SO sick but I actually wasn’t bc I had been to the doctor. I STILL showed up and ended up throwing up in the hall way but luckily he said I could come back and thank goodness for him. I will do anything to shadow a doctor.

My daughter would have loved you. She said sometimes when she shadowed she felt like she was a nuisance and didn’t make her feel comfortable. She was always on time.

I can’t believe people have an issue with this video. This is common sense for 99% of professional workplaces. If you think you can act anything close to this especially in the healthcare field, good luck.
