I really enjoyed the movie but was disappointed by how many things Nolan left out e.i. the “Nobody” trick, lotus eaters, Aelous’s windbag and the lack of the gods. Also in the original text Odysseus is the one that kills his crew not the gods. But still I really enjoyed it, the athena imagery and the realization that his crew were the “people from the sea” hit hard. Not to mention the score and performances. Overall 9.1/10

This is regarding the modern language. The average American adult doesn’t have the reading level to comprehend the actual Odyssey text. So it’s better to simplify it for a blockbuster.
