@yourlasvegasaesthetician: Why don’t I double dry exfoliate acne-prone skin? Because acne isn’t caused by a lack of exfoliation. Using two forms of dry exfoliation back-to-back can create unnecessary friction, increase inflammation, disrupt the skin barrier, and leave already compromised skin even more reactive. My goal isn’t to remove as much skin as possible, it’s to create the healthiest environment for healing. That’s why I choose exfoliation strategically, not aggressively. Healthy barrier = better healing. Better healing = better acne outcomes. #AcneEducation #SkinBarrier #AcneFacial #EstheticianTips #AcneProneSkin

I would not personally. If I did do a double exfoliation I would dermaplane first. I do think the rounded tip blades are much safer. Other than that, she can do whatever she wants at her own risk and at the risk of her own license.

Not a fan of microderm but double exfoliation can be beneficial if the client skin can tolerate and they are preconditioned as well as little to no inflamed acne. I prefer dry planing over oil you can tell see how the skin reacts dry than with the oil. With oil it’s harder to tell if you are doing too many passes in one area. Now acne prone skin does shed skin 5x faster than someone who isn’t and they’re skin is clear and preconditioned then absolutely but also be sure your client know the potential to purge which any form of exfoliation can have purging. I do think maybe she needs to have better control for safety in her method of dermaplanning.

I prefer chemical exfoliation and extractions for my acne patients. But to each their own

So glad you sitched this, NO I wouldn’t mircoderm ever because I hate it I wouldn’t dry dermplane ever either and I would never dermplane someone with active breakouts. I would do a light peel series, at home skincare , 4 week appointments and once it’s cleared I’d then see if she’s ready for dermaplaning. And I would even do a hydroderm

Yes I absolutely would. I know this creator very well and she does amazing work with skin. Double exfoliation is not always an issue on acne prone skin.
