We lost because Argentina kept winning so many fouls, which constantly broke up the game and stopped England from building any momentum. Add Messi wasting time, and it made it even harder to play our football. England could have played better, of course, but Argentina’s constant fouls and game management made a huge difference. If they’d played a more open and fair game, I think England would have had a much better chance of winning.
