One time when my kids were very young, we were in a McDonald’s play place. There was some random kid having a birthday party, and my youngest decided to walk up and ask if he could have a piece of cake. I pretended not to know whose child he was. 🤦🏻♀️

I used to work at a very big, very green national monument. One time a parent demanded I give them entry to the site after we had closed ( we limited entry at a certain time) and demanded I tell his child why they couldn’t go inside. I got down on my knee, looked the kid straight in the face and said, “ I’m sorry sweetie, but your dad didn’t make reservations to go inside today, maybe next time because we are closed now.” Entitled Dad lunged right at me and was kindly treated by US Park Police. I am not above making a scene to shut this behavior right down.

I'd say no anyway, or at the very least tell em IF there's any left after all the INVITED guests that WE KNOW and asked to come get some then MAYBE I'll give them a piece. I wouldn't care if I "blasted" on the internet or not. Like I care what strangers say about me not giving a not invited guest cake.

I was on a flight, maybe 12yo at the time, sat next to a mother and her toddler who was maybe 3?? I was eating some M&M’s and the little girl (who the mom kept letting stand/wiggle in between us) was reaching at me for some so I moved them away from her and the mom looked at me laughing and said “It’s ok, she can have some go ahead” 😳 I wasn’t trying to offer but didn’t know what to do and felt rude. So I gave her a couple.

At one of my son’s birthday parties we had a woman with her daughter come up and “ask” for a bunch of stuff. We had the party at a park and while the kids were off playing after cake was done she walked up and said,”are you done with all of this? Can we take….” And they were already up at the table with her kid leaning over all the leftover food reaching for stuff. We had extra so I’m happy to share but it was her attitude with it that rubbed me wrong, just acting like it was guaranteed

I don't know. I would happily give a small child a piece of cake. Yes the parents are tacky and rude but it's always better to be kind. Even to awful people.
