Understanding anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics is the foundation that benefits equestrians from all levels and disciplines. The more knowledge we have on how equine athletes move and what their bodies require for health and soundness, the higher level of athletic care can be provided for them. Fun Facts: • The Central Nervous System is comprised of the brain and spinal cord. The brain is the control center of the body, sending out signals through the spinal cord which are then distributed throughout the rest of the body via the Peripheral Nervous System. • The hoof capsule and frog are known as the “pumping mechanism” of the circulatory system. The more a horse can move and graze, the better we can aid their bodies with improved circulation. • Horses have 205 bones, and there are 20 bones in each limb. Horses do not reach skeletal maturity until they are 6 years old. • Horses have 700 skeletal muscles divided into Superficial and Deep muscles. Superficial muscles provide their power, and Deep muscles provide support and stability while they all work towards creating motion and movement. Together we can increase the standards in our industry, and make a larger positive impact. ✨ Powered by @Equine Relief Products #oeprprogram #equinessence #equinesportstherapy #performancehorse #equinelife #equineeducation #equineanatomy #fyphorses #equinebiomechanics #acuscope #equinerehab
