I was told today that I should “look into doing a dewormer to treat my cancer”… dead ass looked the dude in the face and said “ I prefer my medical interventions to be backed by data … and will be trusting in modern medicine thanks”

Later stage cancers cost way more to treat as well, costing us all more money.

Can we stop saying the patient “did their own research” and swap it out with “patient googled their symptoms and took advice from online forums”. The word research and true meaning behind it needs to be reclaimed!!

It’s exhausting. I don’t understand why people don’t believe in science.

There's a wide spread anti science narrative going around. It's not just medicine, it's biology, chemistry, physics, archaeology etc.
I don't understand why, scientists used to be rockstars. They were called to give lectures for the general population and you would have people watching from the windows.
It's not a lack of understanding, science educators are phenomenal. It can only be misplaced anger and fear. Fear that our civilization is about to shift to a new paradigm. Fear of being left behind. Anger at the lies our politicians say without flinching. But this stance hinders progress. Science gets defunded and when that happens people are left behind.

This always has blown my mind. I know it’s cold but you’re right. Darwinism. And it’s not fair they get prioritized when they change their minds and seek real medical treatments

Unfortunately, people who already agree with you are more likely to see this video. I never see the original misinformation videos. Stitches at most.

Weirdly, no one has funded and given me my own lab since I don't have any medical education whatsoever. So I can't do my own research and am going to have to trust the experts...

I'm so nervous for the future with regards to this. I'm a nurse, and I know enough to know that i know nothing. I was more than happy to put my life in the hands of my specialist when I had lymphoma. I didn't have time to "do my own research" as that would have taken at least 10 years, and I only had weeks to live. you simply cannot learn the science and appropriate treatment pathways in the time you get between diagnosis and treatment. we're living in lucky times to have access to information and expertise, I can't fathom why anyone would decline access to this luxury.

I am all for natural or alternative medicine. For example, my vibration plate has really helped my neuropathy. But I also fully believe in modern medicine and am grateful for research and medical advances. I did not mess around with my breast cancer treatment.

Have you spoken on people that receive an initial treatment with chemo, for example, don’t like the side effects, then change to alternative medicine? They do improve, but they give all the credit to their alternative treatments and encourage others not to seek conventional treatments.

My research involved talking to my doctor and possibly a specialist like a dermatologist if warranted. They are the experts in the medical field. I have a masters degree in chemistry. I know that I dont have sufficient education to make informed medical decisions without my doctor.

A family friend fell down this rabbit hole of natural healing and ended up dying of her cancer. She was a wonderful woman. I think out of respect for people and their families who are tricked by these misinformation peddlers, we should not just say Darwinism in action

Can you ethically deprioritize them? Or set their priority in line with their desire to accept treatment from day one of diagnosis ?

It’s such an invidious mindset some these ‘alternative medicine’ folk have when it comes to cancer. I’ll never forget someone seriously suggesting that my mum try ‘Irish Sea Moss’ after she received a pancreatic cancer diagnosis. I was genuinely stunned. I had seen people with that mentality online, but I was actually speechless when met with it in real life. The same woman later told me that if my mum hadn’t gotten the covid jabs, she’d still be alive. Safe to say I cut contact with her.
