Here is my go to shot list for a cinematic sequence! 🎥 Super simple but very effective! Having multiple angles and viewpoints of the same action unfolding is really important and helps to tell a story. Here is the list broken down for ease: 1. THE CLOSE UP: start tight, introduce detail first not context. This creates curiosity and a reverse storytelling effect as the scene unfolds! 2. THE ACTION SHOT: show what’s happening. Focus on the process, movement, or craft because this is where the story feels alive. 3. THE SUBJECT SHOT: who is this about? This shot grounds the story in a person and shows the technique, skill, identity and intention. 4. THE MID SHOT: start opening up the environment. It bridges the subject and space, helping the viewer feel present and in the moment. 5. THE RESULT SHOT: revealing the outcome. This is where the viewer can understand what was being made, how and why it matters. 6. THE WIDE SHOT: End with context. Show the full environment, this completes the visual story. To really elevate your sequence, if you had the opportunity to interview the person you’re filming, they could do a voice over! I hope these shots are useful for any beginners, there are lots of other ways to shoot a sequence but this is my go to! Happy filming!! 🎬 @Sony Alpha @Adobe @Sony @Visit Vietnam
