This conversation means so much to me. As a girl from the hood, I know exactly what you're talking about. There is a lady here on TikTok who said some of the things we escaped(teenage pregnancy etc) is not because we are special but because siSindile, which means we survived these things. Personally I don't even judge anyone who has experienced the things you mentioned because I also understand the cause and I am still at war with the cause or causes myself. I wish our future generations have the mentors and sisters we didn't have to guide them, because sometimes all you need is someone to redirect you when you loose direction.
