Most seismic activity occurs at the "seams" where these plates interact: Convergent Boundaries: Where plates collide. This often creates massive mountain ranges (like the Himalayas) or deep ocean trenches. These areas produce some of the most powerful earthquakes. Divergent Boundaries: Where plates pull apart. You can see this clearly in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean (the Mid-Atlantic Ridge), where new crust is being formed as magma rises. Transform Boundaries: Where plates slide past each other horizontally. The San Andreas Fault in California is a famous example of this "grinding" motion.
