A car came to pick me up, and the car number was different from the one on the app and he was convincing me that his actual car had broken down and he had to use his brother's own. I canceled the ride and I reported him.

I booked a ride, but it wasn’t the same person on the app, I have already entered when I noticed that he was wearing a nose mask and immediately my mind skipped I tried opening the car but it was on central lock, already he was trying to reverse with speed, I just told him to wait that I want to go down and take something he then opened the door from his end. Immediately I came down I told him that he’s not the same person on the app and he’s putting on a nose mask, so I canceled the ride, the man quickly drove off

In Addition to 👆 1. Always share your ride details with someone you trust. 2. Once you’re inside the car, make a phone call or send a voice note mentioning that you’ve shared your ride details with them. 3. Avoid using the air conditioner keeping the windows slightly open can help you stay more alert and aware of your surroundings. 4. Never block both ears with AirPods or earphones. Keep at least one ear free so you can hear what’s happening around you.

In addition to the precautions mentioned here, I've normalized not using AC when I book rides. The windows must be down.

Let me add these; check that the glass IS NOT TINTED. I was kidnapped in June and it was only after entering and they wound up I realised the glass was tinted. Wind up before entering to be sure the glass is clear. 2. Ensure the door handle close to where you seat is good and not missing. 3. Don't be engrossed on your phone throughout the ride. Maintain eye contact. Keep your eye on the road. Let him see that you're actively watching. 4. When sharing the ride details with someone, don't just share the car details. Ensure the face on the app shows. And of course, ensure the face showing on the app is sane as who came. 5. Make a call even if fake, informing the person that you're on your way. Act like the person doesn't believe you so tell them you've shared the ride details with them on whatsapp. 6. If the car has boot that is accessible from the back seat, look inside to be sure no one is hiding in there.

Another thing is to make sure that there is no one else in the car. And don't allow the driver to convince you to allow him pick someone else up during your ride.
