He doesn’t say that you have to live a perfect life. He’s saying that to truly believe would be such a radical transformation so as to be obliterated. To suggest that you truly “believe” is something to be seriously contended with.

To George’s point, you accept that by killing your ego. I fought against myself for so long. Trying to hold on tight for control and authority, I should have been trying to cup it like water instead. When I was finally exhausted of the fight I just gave it up and found peace. He literally took it. It’s not apathy or indifference I still very much care but I just don’t worry or dwell on it

We are human and humans are flawed God gave us Christ to show us how flawed we are but forgives us anyway. We need to learn to be humble and have faith and forgive ourselves for our mistakes.
