@nbcnewyork: It was a win for an animal sanctuary in Rockland County in need of a financial rescue. Tevaland — a 16-acre save haven for more than 100 abused, neglected and abandoned farm animals — relies primarily on donations to operate. But for years, the town of Ramapo refused to recognize the sanctuary's tax-exempt status, and it was in danger of shutting down. An attorney for the non-profit filed a lawsuit and requested town financial documents about all tax-exempt properties. Eventually, the town agreed to settle the case. #nbc4ny #animals
