@jenn_rillo: The phrase “helping Mom” has always felt a little off to me. Because when my boys clean a bathroom, pick up a mess, do laundry, or take care of something around the house… they aren’t doing me a favor. They live here too. 🤍 I’m not saying every job has to be split perfectly or that everyone in a home has to carry the exact same responsibilities. Families are teams, and every person on the team may have a different role. But contributing to the home you live in? That’s not a “Mom job.” I want my boys to grow up understanding that taking care of a home is simply part of life. I want them to notice what needs to be done. To take pride in their space. To understand that cleanliness, responsibility, and contribution aren’t tied to being a man or a woman. I’m not raising boys who need to be applauded for “helping” the women in their lives.
