@dexterfrankenstein: Part 3 - Neurospicy people often struggle to see the value in effort, especially when it comes to things that are more challenging for us to accomplish. We don't need to lower the bar, but we can empower ourselves by looking for the quiet ways we overcome those challenges. #neurospicy #audhd #latediagnosedautistic #latediagnosedadhd

question, what is it called when we don't know we are doing it but we are doing it. is that dissociation? like I know it's our conditioning but is there like a split between mind and body that I'm not fully grasping yet?

I have to make things fun or they won't get done. I'm a list maker, but list ate boring so I make a daily bingo card with every single task. That way I get to mark off a square when I complete a task and at some point I will get a bingo and celebrate.

As a deeply flawed typical neurodivergent person, as all people are, I am learning to have this perspective. The crazy part is the more I do it, the more I’m able to do the bigger things. I had shrunk myself so small so I stopped disappointing people including me. Then I got help. Through therapy and meds I am seeing myself in a whole new light. And learning to love the ADHD part of me.

This is something I definitely need to get better at. I have a huge to-do list of things that are piled up, and some of them I am finding I don't have the bandwidth to tackle. This leads to a lot of guilt. A lot of procrastination. A lot of getting distracted and doing other things.

I’ve recently started doing this. And for years, I’ve made lists and included things that I am going to do anyway, so I can see I’ve actually done more

I really really needed to hear this for my house cleaning. I tend to feel if the house doesn’t look museum clean, i didn’t accomplish anything. But i was working on stuff all day.

Great reminder, Dex! For me, the voice of "not enough-ness" was too loud to allow acceptance of the small wins, but with time & menopause🤣, I'm learning to celebrate the little wins🥰

I've been dealing with this recently in therapy. My psych recently got me to document a week of what I did, and rated everything with a pleasure and mastery score. It helped giving me a more objective perspective and made a big difference.

Today my win was failing completely at using my embroidery machine and giving up before I started crying. I will try again on Sunday morning when I’m not totally wiped. I can do this, just not right now 😂😭

I started celebrating myself thoroughly for everything I did that felt hard TO ME. What do I care if it didn’t look hard to neurotypical people? I am not neurotypical. So if sth felt hard to me and I did it anyway, it is worth a celebatory nap, dance or ice cream.

I hear you. I think it's difficult for many of us to celebrate ourselves, especially if we grew up in complicated family dynamics as children. I'm glad you're celebrating those wins now. 🙌🏽
