What kind of soil do you use? My wife and I have a garden for the first time and we ended up with a bunch of mushrooms that our dogs ate and got sick. We are trying to grow both berries and some veggies.

Does it get protection from the sun? Every time I have tried to grow broccoli or Bok Choi, it just bolts and flowers.
