What do the headlight symbols on your dashboard mean? 🚗💡 Most drivers use their headlights every day but do not actually know what each dashboard symbol means or which setting they are using. Here is a quick guide so you always know what is on. 💡 Low beam symbol. A headlight icon with lines pointing downward. This is your standard nighttime driving light. It lights the road in front of you without blinding oncoming traffic. 💡 High beam symbol. A headlight icon with straight horizontal lines. This gives you maximum distance visibility. Use it on dark roads with no oncoming traffic. Turn it off when cars are approaching or you will blind other drivers. 💡 Parking lights symbol. A small light icon with lines going both directions. These are dim lights used when your car is parked on the side of the road in low visibility. They are not bright enough for driving. 💡 Fog light symbol. A headlight icon with a wavy line through the beams. Front fog lights aim low and wide to light up the road in fog, rain, or heavy mist. Rear fog lights warn drivers behind you in poor visibility. 💡 Auto headlight symbol. Usually the letter A or the word AUTO next to a headlight icon. Your headlights turn on and off automatically based on outside light conditions. Most newer cars have this feature. 💡 DRL or daytime running lights. These turn on automatically when your car is running. They are dimmer than low beams and are designed to make your car visible to others during the day. They do not light the road at night. 🚨 Using the wrong headlight setting is dangerous and can get you a ticket. High beams in traffic blind other drivers. No lights in the dark makes you invisible. Know your symbols and use the right setting for every situation. 📍 San Antonio mobile mechanic | ⭐ 5-star Google rated | 🏡 We come to YOU Headlight not working, dim, or stuck on one setting?
