I'm amazed how few people even understand tactics. Especially si called experts. Look at Argentinas matches again. Notice how Messi because of his age can't hold up to pressure. So what does a smart team do? They hold back until the other team is a bit more tired. Then they go all out with Messi when his opposing players can't follow him anymore. It happened in every single game. It's so utterly obvious.

But if England’s players are carrying the same pressure to win the World Cup as Brazil, a five-time champion, then perhaps the rest of this perspective is worth considering. As an outsider with no emotional attachment to any team, I didn’t expect England to reach the semifinals, and I was partly wrong. Despite knowing that, he still reverted to the same negative tactics he criticised before taking the job. If you’re brought in to fix a problem but keep repeating it, then you’re not the solution. How funny is this, because he did the same thing against Mexico when they took the lead, did the same thing again Norway when they took the lead . And everyone said he’s a genius. So he did the same thing against Argentina the only difference is this is Argentina and Messi. Give credit to Argentina and stop blaming the coach . After the goal Argentina has the ball 15 minutes in England box they couldn’t get out. So the coach said we should can defend from 8 minutes. Like what he did the last two games.

You could argue it made sense to go defensive at the Azteca, but completely wrong against Argentina. It was never going to work. He should have refreshed the attack so at least if we conceded we had a decent chance in extra time. If we are positive and lose I think we can live with that, but to be negative and lose is unacceptable.
