I think they have some kind of heat shield on the front that is actually designed to "boil" on reentry but doesnt tranfer that heat into the ship. Im not sure that the rest of the ship can take that except the heat shield. But I could be wrong.

Heat from friction not the same as heat from lava. Spelled the same, look the same, NOT the same.

People are being mean. Different materials transfer energy at different rates. When you open a hot oven the air that hits you is the temp of the oven but air doesn't transfer heat well. Touch the metal in the oven and you get burned because metal has excellent heat transfer

how come i can sit in a sauna at 160 degrees for 15 minutes with no burns, but if i stick my hand in 160 degree water it burns instantly?

I’m more concerned about the parachute where is it stored during re-entry and the tethering cords

lol at all the people trying to explain in the comments. people who ask questions like this aren't going to listen to your explanation. If they cared about the truth they would have googled it instead of making this post.

yeah and there is no steam from the capsules when they land in the ocean.

The heat shield could. We know that because we’ve tested in a lab setting and blasted it at temps much higher than 2800. Heat from friction is very different to lava.

Well you’re talking about temperature not heat. When talking about HEAT shields HEAT is the important metric

Artemis had a ceramic grid of insulation on the nose cone as a cover. Yes, that ceramic could withstand lava temperatures. Not for long, but it didn’t need to last long. Once it slowed down the heating effect ceased.

Heat transfer rates depend upon the hot thing, not just its temperature. Hot air won't transfer heat as easily as hot lava.

Density may be an issue. Atmospheric molecules are very spread out so total thermal energy is low, although temperature is high. Lava may have a lower temp, but will have a much higher thermal energy.

You see no physical difference between lava and ionised plasma?

Only the bottom of the capsule can withstand such temperatures- and obviously for a limited amount of time. Lava is much too viscous for anything to swim in it.

the question is would any of you want to be in that capsule? You can spit out all theory about heat conducting material, but reality is different bro.

No, because it’s also using the wind from the drag force to cool it at the same time. The lava would just be heating. It would be probably be okay for a minute or too
