So, recruiters can use AI to filter out candidates. Engineers and managers are expected to use AI at work to increase output speed. But, the job seeker, in one of the most stressful parts of their life, isn't allowed to use a tool they'll use everyday, in a high stress, time limited situation (the interview). Yeah, that makes sense.

It is funny that in this day and age most companies are basically asking all their engineers to use AI to write code and even before that interview processes were always much more difficult than the actual job. If as a senior engineer I have to study a few months to be able to pass an interview then it is a shit interview

What is the reason of all of this when majority of time we use AI for coding now?

The whole is confusing at this point. You are expected to hand write code but you'd be using AI in the job. why?

It is never cheating. Ever. I don't care what you or anyone else says. It's not cheating. Do you honestly think someone is sitting at their desk 8 hours a day just coding, not once opening Google or a book or asking someone how to do something? These tech questions or coding challenges are a complete waste of time.

These type of highly technical/coding interviews are ridiculous. You ask candidates questions without letting them use the tools that are available to them every day in the role. So what if I can’t write a syntactically perfect routine completely from my memory. I will never have to do it that way IRL.

Caring about this just shows inexperience as an interviewer and is likely a workplace that values control more than success

An absolute classic and for good reason! Super hearty and so perfect for this time of year. Enjoy 😋 P.s whilst this is a blog recipe, there’s a delightful selection of soups that are just as delicious and dinner-worthy in my book! Amazon still delivering before Christmas and it’s still discounted, so now is an awesome time to grab a copy if you haven’t already 😄📗 Chris x CREAMY LEEK & POTATO SOUP | Serves 4-6 INGREDIENTS ➡️SOUP: 4 tbsp / 60g Butter 2 ribs of Celery, finely diced 2 large cloves of Garlic, finely diced 3 large Leeks, firm/dark parts removed then finely diced (save the firm/dark part)* 1.2 litres / 5 cups Chicken Stock, or as needed 1kg / 2lb Maris Pipers/Russets, peeled & diced into (weighed BEFORE peeling) 1 tsp Salt, plus more as needed 1/2 tsp Black Pepper, plus more as needed 160ml / 2/3 cup Heavy/Double Cream, at room temp ➡️TOPPINGS (optional but recommended, measure with love!): extra drizzle of Cream diced Pancetta or Bacon, cooked until crisp Croutons** finely diced Fresh Chives METHOD 1️⃣Melt the butter in a large deep pot over medium heat. Add the celery and fry for a few minutes until it begins to soften. Add the garlic and leek and fry until soft and sweet (8 minutes or so). 2️⃣Pour in the stock then stir in the potatoes, salt and pepper. Check the firm/dark green parts of the leeks for dirt, then add them to the pot and bring to a simmer. Once simmering, lower the heat slightly, pop on the lid and simmer for 30 minutes until the potato is very soft. 3️⃣Remove the lid and pluck out the leek ends. Turn off the heat and blitz until smooth. Don't over blend otherwise the consistency can become gluey. Stir in the cream then check for seasoning and adjust if needed. Don't be afraid to generously season to bring out the best in this simple soup. Add more stock to thin out the consistency if desired. 4️⃣Add desired toppings then tuck in and enjoy! *3 large leeks should weigh around 1.2-1.3kg/2.6-2.9lb in total. The most important measurement is that the diced part of the leek should weigh approx 500g/1lb.  **If you want to make your own just tear or slice some bread (preferably a little stale), drizzle or spray with oil then bake in the oven at 180C/350F or 5 or so minutes, or until golden and crisp. Toss in a pinch of salt whilst hot. ***There's a lot of potato in this recipe, which sucks in seasoning like no other. You run the risk of this soup coming out bland if it's not seasoned properly. I find the suggested measurements above work nicely, but don't be afraid to adjust more (namely the salt) if needed.
