I took what I thought was a long shot on February 1st of this year and submitted this painting, Indulgence, to Canada’s largest art competition and got in! Indulgence is one of 100 paintings selected for the ART COMP 2026 juried show and is on display all summer at 100 Kellogg Lane in London, Ontario @100 Kellogg Lane    There’s a people’s choice award and the public can vote online for their favourite paintings. I’d highly recommend checking out the exhibition in-person or online as it’s a diverse collection of amazing art. If you’re a fan of my work, please feel free to vote for me, or another piece that catches your eye! Voting closes September 7th 2026.   ❤️ Vote here (you have to make a free account) https://artcomp.awardsplatform.com/page/zGqjaEem   For the competition entry, I also submitted my paintings Market Wealth and Grazer’s Delight and while I love them, I feel extra thrilled that it’s Indulgence that got accepted, because it displays my transition as an artist from acrylic to water-mixable oil paints, all because I couldn’t paint a fork! 🍴   At the time I exclusively worked in acrylic paint, but when I finished the pie filling section, I was humbled so HARD in trying to get the metallic look on the fork right. I kept wanting something with more bendability.   So, I took a break, taught myself how to paint with oil, and when I returned, Indulgence was finished in water-mixable oils.   I love that this piece is the only painting in my collection that truly boasts a visual demarcation between the acrylics, the beginning of my artist career, and oils, my present medium.   Would you have noticed if I hadn’t said anything?   If you’re a pie lover and / or liked this story please consider voting for me!   Thank you so much to ART COMP for selecting my work amongst a sea of incredible artists and peers, I’m so grateful to be among the 100 that were selected for the competition 🥹❤️
