What bothers me, is if you had the exact same circumstances, but it was a nanny who was responsible - there is no way the response would be “it could have easily happened to me”. They would be pursuing the harshest punishment possible. Why do we seem to hold the PARENTS to a lesser standard???

He was drowning for SEVEN minutes!!! Seven whole minutes. Set an alarm on your phone for 7 minutes and really sit with how long that really is. Brady was absolutely negligent, it was an accident but also extreme negligence. All because he was betting on a sports game on his cell phone.

What also angers me is knowing that had this been a low income family of a different race, “Brady” would’ve been arrested and charged full stop. At the end of the day their wealth, privilege, and higher up connected let this man walk free. No consequences. And now we see Brady holding his remaining living child with no life jacket on a boat where alcohol is being consumed. He is a danger to Teddy just as much as he was a danger to Trigg. Sickening.

I just don’t understand, like he was THREE. Not 8,9,10. I’d understand letting an adolescent child who can clearly communicate, is a proficient swimmer, etc have more autonomy and independence in a backyard with a pool. He was 3 years old. I have a 2.5 year old and I cannot fathom any way shape or form I would let her more than arms length away from me at any given time near an accessible deep body of water.

In my experience, mothers tend to be much more vigilant and attentive to their children’s safety. So hearing her say, “It could have easily been me,” makes me question how closely she supervises her own children. To me, it sounds like they’re both acknowledging a level of carelessness.When it comes to something as dangerous as water, a preventable accident doesn’t leave much room for “it could have easily been me” if you were consistently taking the precautions needed from the start. That’s my perspective.
