the segregation is crazy, because why is the third ward getting a million dollar project but a few blocks over there are rotting empty lots, houses, roads, buildings and trash everywhere.

Milwaukee is literally apartheid and the suburbs are guilty of creating it. Anyway donate to Metcalfe Park Community Bridges, an amazing north side mutual aid group and nonprofit! Also a big fan of African American Roundtable. Common Ground and Voces de la Frontera are bigger but very effective imo

from someone living in Milwaukee, City has some big issues. Extreme violence, heavy theft and car theft. City leadership doesn't seem to care since they know they just get auto-elected because there isn't really any competition.

I grew up and live in Brookfield and have a friend the same age who grew up like 20 minutes away in MKE proper. The difference in our upbringing and opportunities and how that has affected our lives is mind blowing

Speaking as someone who grew up in Mukwonago, Waukesha County has a deep moral rot I’m not sure it will ever get out of. An entire county of “I got mine” type people.

grew up in Waukesha county. and jeez, the ignorance in that area is astonishing. they act like Milwaukee is the worst place on planet earth, and yet all have opinions about what Milwaukee needs when they refuse to step foot there outside of Summerfest.

I keep water and snacks in my car for my drive through the north side from Tosa to Grafton to pick my kids up. I see at least 3-4 homeless people every single day on my route- the least I can do is share some water and food

I'm the co-ED of @BLOC here in Milwaukee. We do year round civic engagement in the Black community as well as advocacy and community events like our Back to School drive, Wellness in the Park etc. ❤️

There are TONS of civic engagement orgs! AART (African American Round Table), LIT (Leaders Igniting Transformation) Milwaukee Turner’s, VOCES, BLOC (Black Leaders Organizing Communities) , Milwaukee Alliance Against Racism and Political Oppression , please get involved and join folks we’re all working on the north side and south side trying to engage community and build resources and build the community up!! We all focus on similar issues but have our own Niches! Almost every org has a TikTok or instagram with meetings and resources!!
