When there is an update this post will be updated at the top of the caption. When a mama dog comes into the shelter with puppies that are old enough to be adopted they’re usually separated. At a city shelter the puppies become available for adoption and so does the mama dog but they are rarely ever adopted together. The reality is that puppies almost always find homes first because they’re small and people naturally gravitate toward them. That often leaves mom behind waiting and sometimes waiting long enough to end up on the euthanasia list. I didn’t get to spend too much time with Tiramisu but she was very sweet and quiet during our short time together. •Questions? If you want to help, please be proactive do not wait! If you’re interested in a pet and live out of state, I encourage you to reach out to your local rescues to see if they pull from Texas shelters. I receive the euthanasia list from the shelter between 1–3PM, and the deadline to save the listed dogs is 1PM the following day.
